Mumbai, April 13: After Hollywood’s hot sirens Pussycat Dolls shook their butts to the world-winning anthem ‘Jai Ho’, the Mozart of Madras AR Rahman is now heading to the oriental Japan. The Indian musical prodigy, who seems to have conquered the West and is a huge success back home, has now spread his wings to the Land of Rising Sun-Japan. The music maestro has caught the fancy of Japanese music composer Joe Hisaishi for the music of their forthcoming Indo-Japanese venture. Confirming the news, a daily quoted a source as saying, “Rahman, Bharat Bala (director) and some people from Disney (who are producing the film) met Joe Hisaishi in Tokyo on April 6 to discuss the film. The film that stars the Japanese actor Tadanobo Asano also has Kamal Haasan and Asin and is set to trace the origin of martial art in India.” To be produced and directed by Bharat Bala, the film is a $50 million project. Research work on the martial art form is currently on. And if the buzz is to be believed, then the film shall go to show that martial arts originated from India and not from Japan. As for Joe Hisaishi, the music genius was much too eager to join forces with Rahman. And sources tell us that Rahman’s association with the project was one of the major factors that got Hisaishi on board. |
