The first episode of ZeeTV SareGaMaPa Vishwa Vyudh (World War) of Music came to a closure yesterday in Mumbai with Aneek Dhar walking away with the title crown and most amount of votes, 3.65 crores. Poonam Yadav was crowned the champion amongst the women.
Raja Hasan got the 2nd highest votes, 3.52 crores, followed by Amanat Ali of Pakistan. Amanat pulled in most of amount of International votes and is quite popular with overseas listeners.
Though all three final contestants are good on their own, Aneek for a 18 year old, has an amazing control on sur, is very versatile and can sing all sorts of genre, including modern soundtrack in rap and english. The hunt in particular was for best playback singer for films and Aneek's command on sur and layakari is indeed a very good match for the requirement. Given Aneek's age, his voice quality is a bit thin but hopefully it should improve with time.
In the semifinal episode, Amanat pulled in an amazing performance and was applauded as best of the pack by none other than Jagjit Singh and Pandit Jasraj. It seems though that he fell short on the national votes. Until two weeks ago, Raja Hasan was leading the voting count and was the favorite to win. However, the final voting count denied Raja the title and surprised many on the stage, including Aneek and his Gharana guru, Himesh Reshammaiya, who had almost accepted and believed that Aneek should rather seek blessings from Raja as a younger brother and go for the best runner up. However, the destiny had something else for Aneek and pulled him the title instead. Aneek almost existed the show during the vote chase in one of the episode and fell into a "Trishanku", but was bailed out by the fans the following week and went on to win the title.
Your votes on Mastradio.com ranked Poonam in the lead followed by Amanat and Aneek on 2nd and Raja on 3rd place, respectively.
In classical genre, Amanat for sure has a very good command along with excellent voice quality.
Aneek is only 18 years old and picked up learning music from his parents while he was only 4 years old. Later on he got groomed in classical singining by Shri Sudip Roy and joined Sur Tarango, a Bengali band headed by Santanu Ganguly.
Annek has already won the regional Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla contest prior to joining and winning the Vishwa Yudh version.
Wish Aneek and feel free to pass on your thoughts on the show and final outcome. Which are memorable performances from the show? Please chime in.

He is a very good singer. However, I think Amanat was better. Rehan

This whole voting system at ZeeTV is rigged. You can not trust any of it. Basically, it is one of those guys in the control room who decide who gets the final go, not the votes.

What rubbish? Both the guys are good. Aneek has indeed better potential in playback as the article points out. Aneek by far is heavily suited for playback which was core objective of the show. Amanat is no doubt very good in classical and semi classical. The verdict is very much justified. Besdies, I think Amanat got less SMS votes from overseas. And obviously, the Indians had two other choices besides Amanat. So I think the Pakistan factor must have played a bit during voting, and it was evident as well in few of the episodes. These things can never be 100%. However, thanks to the show, Amanat along with hoist of other no name candidates have great visibility and platform to build their career. Thats the positive end of it.
