Review of When Parallel Lines Meet: New Album From Manisha Shahane in 2010
Written by Raj Yadav
Monday, 28 December 2009
Manisha Shahane’s music is fresh, clutter-free and deeply moving. She has a knack for incorporating the simplest of life’s moments into a composition that not only signifies humanity, but also cuts across cultural divides. Welcome to “Bridging Hemispheres”, a term coined by Manisha, who embraces this philosophy in daily life; it is also a concept that very much resonates with all great spiritual messages of Eastern and Western traditions. A proponent of environmental and social issues, Manisha’s approach to her life and music is a work in motion on how to bridge the war within and around us. You can feel such themes in her music, powered by a musical ensemble that draws inspiration from many corners of the world.

During our World Music hours on October 25, 2009, we provided an exclusive  “sneak preview” of her 2nd album and were able to dive deep into her inspirations. Appropriately titled “When Parallel Lines Meet”, the upcoming album features 10 tracks that touch both light and sensitive moods. Our radio show showcased close-to-final versions of six tracks.

3 Idiots: Review
Written by Vishal Joshi - MASTRADIO.COM
Sunday, 27 December 2009

3 Idiots is a must watch film because it carries a message for everyone and touches the problems our education system is facing today.  The elegance personified director Rajkumar Hirani like his previous movies, the Munnabhai series and the perfectionist Amir once again successfully deliver a strong but simple message. The film tells you that education is not about getting good marks and achieving success but it is all about craving for excellence. And it is important to be passionate about whatever you choose to do in life. These are simple, philosophical thoughts everyone is aware of, but they are remarkably depicted in the film. I, too like everyone else came out of the theatre with just one line on my lips “Bhaiya, All is well”.

Nevada (US), Dec 13 (ANI): Hindus are protesting against the Fox News channel for remarks that river Ganges (whom Hindus consider holy) “sounds like a disease”.

Channel’s Glenn Beck, talking about India in December nine segment titled “This is the best America has to offer?” of his opinion show “The One Thing”, said: “One big river they have there, that sounds like a disease. Come on it does. I mean if somebody said, I am sorry, you have a really bad case of Ganges.”

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that Ganges was sacred to one billion Hindus worldwide and such remarks were very hurtful to the devotees. Besides apparently denigrating the religion, it was belittling the entire community.

Media promotes ghazals poorly in India, Pakistan: Asif Mehdi
Written by IANS
Sunday, 13 December 2009
New Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS) Pakistani ghazal exponent Asif Mehdi says the media is responsible for taking young listeners away from ghazals. Aware of his family’s deep roots in India, he is now looking forward to singing for Bollywood.

“The media has been aggressively promoting pop music and packaging it in such a way that youngsters do not feel like listening to anything else,” Mehdi, the son of legendary ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, told IANS in an interview.

“If ghazals could be promoted the same way as pop music by the media both in India and Pakistan, with a good visual script and presentation, then the youth would probably return to the genre,” he said.
