B R Films settles plagiarism charges with Fox |

Mumbai, Aug 8 (PTI) Production house B R Films, which was accused of plagiarism by Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox, has settled the case out-of-court for an undisclosed amount. Fox had alleged that the Indian production house's upcoming film 'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' was a copy of their 1992 Oscar winning film, 'My Cousin Vinny'.
The Hollywood studio went to Mumbai High Court demanding Rs 7 crore as damage charges and a ban on the release of the film.
"We have settled the case out-of-court with Fox but the terms and conditions of the deal cannot be disclosed," Sanjay Bhutiyani, CEO of B R films told PTI.
Bhutiyani refused to comment on reports claiming that the settlement cost B R films a whopping USD 200,000.
The production house had earlier denied the allegations with Ravi Chopra saying that they had a written permission to make the Hindi version of the movie. |

Almost a year ago - a Canadian musician, Dave Carroll's guitar got damaged by United Airlines cargo crew. After a long drawn dispute to settle down the claim which never materialized, the musician choose to fight back with the asset he knows best, music. He wrote 3 songs about the saga, produced the same in music videos and posted the same on YouTube. The result: 3.7 million hits and counting. New Delhi (IANS): The Western world is now showing interest in Hindi films -- all because of its dance and music content, something that they ridiculed a few years ago, says megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
"We were ridiculed, and the West was very cynical about the way we made our films and the content -- the songs and the dance, and the music was something that was kind of looked down upon many years ago.
"But that very aspect has now become its USP, and people love to see that. I would expect that this is how and what our cinema is all about,” Amitabh said on CNN's show “Talk Asia”.
